Central Bargaining Update: Upcoming Central Bargaining Dates
OSSTF/FEESO has received upcoming central bargaining dates for both the Education Worker
and Teacher/Occasional Teacher tables:
June 24 - Teacher/Occasional Teacher
June 29 - Education Worker
June 30 - Teacher/Occasional Teacher
At these meetings, we will continue the discussion about central and local scope. This is the
process for deciding which issues will be negotiated centrally, and which will be available for
local negotiations. The central scope agreement must be reached before the parties can
exchange proposals.
What Can Members Do Right Now?
As bargaining has begun, member solidarity will continue to be a top priority.
If you haven’t already done so, please join our campaign at UNDERFUNDED.ca, and share it
with your colleagues, family, friends, and neighbours.
Call your local MPP and ask them to publicly speak up about the need for additional resources
for teachers and education workers and more supports for students.
And please confirm that your contact information is up to date by logging into myOSSTF and go
to the My Profile page so we can keep you informed as bargaining progresses. Here’s a how-to
video to help with logging into myOSSTF.

Central Bargaining Update:
Initial Central Bargaining Table Meetings
Yesterday, OSSTF/FEESO participated in initial meetings at both the Education Worker and the
Teacher/Occasional Teacher central tables with representatives from the Ontario government
and the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE).
The parties agreed on ground rules and began to determine the split between centrally
negotiated terms and locally negotiated terms.
OSSTF/FEESO’s bargaining team remains ready to negotiate throughout the summer to
address the challenges in schools and fight for the supports that students and education
workers need.

Central Bargaining Update:
Initial Central Bargaining Table Date
OSSTF/FEESO will meet with the Ontario government and Employer Representatives on
Tuesday, June 16, 2026, to begin central bargaining for the renewal of our Teacher/Occasional
Teacher and Education Worker collective agreements.
The first meeting marks the formal start of the bargaining process. During these opening
discussions, the parties will work to:
• Establish the ground rules for negotiations. These rules are typically based on previous
rounds of bargaining and set out the procedures, protocols, and expectations that will
guide negotiations.
• Determine which matters will be negotiated at the central table and which issues will be
addressed through local bargaining between Bargaining Units and school boards.

communication channels.

Ontario’s Education Unions Serve Notice to Bargain
For Immediate Release: June 3, 2026
TORONTO, ON – Today, Ontario’s education unions — L'Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO), Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), Ontario School Board Council of Unions (CUPE-OSBCU), and Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF/FEESO) — each served notice to bargain on employer bargaining agencies, and informed the provincial government who is a participant at the table.
Together, our unions represent more than 255,000 teachers and education workers across Ontario. United in our commitment to publicly funded education, we are prepared to engage in meaningful negotiations focused on supporting students and strengthening learning and working conditions in schools across the province.
Students and families deserve a safe, stable, well-supported, and fully resourced publicly funded education system. Bargaining is one of the most powerful tools we have to make that happen. Teachers and education workers see firsthand the increasing pressures facing classrooms and schools every day, including growing student needs, violence in schools, inadequate supports for students with special education needs, large class sizes, insufficient staffing, and challenges in retaining and recruiting teachers and education workers.
Students, teachers, and education workers should not have to rely on bargaining to secure the basic conditions needed for safe and successful schools. But after years of underfunding and understaffing, these issues cannot be ignored. That’s why we called for an early start to bargaining on March 2, but that call was dismissed. This government cannot continue to ignore how its chronic underfunding, understaffing, and under-resourcing negatively impact students, teachers, and education workers.
Ontario’s education unions have consistently called for meaningful investments in publicly funded education and for a bargaining process focused on the real issues affecting students, families, and communities. Our shared commitment to student success and well-being will continue to guide our approach throughout this round of bargaining.
Teachers and education workers bring frontline knowledge and practical experience from classrooms and schools across Ontario, and that expertise will be critical at the bargaining table as unions work to ensure all students, including those with special education needs, have access to the high-quality learning environments they deserve.
Now that we have filed notice to bargain, the parties are legally obligated to meet at the bargaining table within 15 days. We urge the provincial government and employer bargaining agencies to come to the table as soon as possible, prepared to engage constructively in negotiations focused on ensuring every student has access to the supports, resources, and learning conditions they need to succeed. Ontario cannot continue through another year of underfunding, understaffing, and instability.
